🐉 Ktm 1190 Adventure R Vs Africa Twin

I think the topic is the difference between the Africa Twin and the KTM 1190 R. Not the merits of simple carbureted bikes vs newer KTM's, BMW's, S10's, Tiger's, Strom's, Multi's etc etc. #19 The more I check the 1190 (as I'm looking into getting one), the more obvious it becomes how completely different the 1190 and the 950 were designed. The 950 is a former rally bike turned adventure-tourer. Developed with rally pilots, in rally competitions. Twin front Brembo brakes (320 mm) and a single rear disc provide impressive stopping power with good feel. KTM has decided to fit special spoke wheels to the 1190 which run tubeless tyres. This is to give the wheel more flex in off-road conditions and more control to the rider. A pressure monitoring system is also standard fitment. The 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 received new Adventure Bike styling and electronic aids like Traction Control and ABS as standard equipment. The legendary Africa Twin was discontinued in 2003, but remains a popular choice for Adventure Riders. Unfortunately, they never imported the Africa Twin to the US or Canada. Potential specs reported by Motorrad describe a new Africa Twin with a 1000cc Parallel-Twin instead of a V-Twin (apparently for cost saving purposes). The WP cone-valve fork features precision parts and cone-valve damping technology with serious dirt-worthy damping performance. The suspension has 30mm more travel than the 890 R’s. KTM 890 ADVENTURE R: $14,199 KTM’S 890 Adventure R has an off-road persona and churns out a serious horsepower gain over last year’s 790. Ithas a 6-speed Southern California. I rode, in order, 18 AT DCT, 17 Yamaha Super Tenere, 18 AT, and KTM 1190 Super Adventure. No question that the regular AT is the best in terms of ergonomics, performance, etc. Just kept thinking, hmm is there something the Adventure Sports offers that is worth the price jump. I found both motorcycles comfortable, but the KTM 1190 Adventure’s ergonomics fit my 6’ 1” frame a bit better than the Honda Africa Twin. An example of the incremental difference is I On paper, the 1090 Adventure R would appear to have the advantage: Bigger engine (1050cc vs. 998cc), more power, Brembo brakes, larger fuel tank (6.5 gallons vs. 4.96 gallons) and that unmistakable KTM off-road prowess. But the Africa Twin costs significantly less ($13,299 for the standard transmission vs. $14,699), has more suspension travel Peace. I went from a 2016 Africa Twin to the 2019 790 Adventure R. 1) They are fairly close in a few areas and but these bike in general are worlds apart. The Africa Twin is the only bike that I have ever owned that needed nothing in terms of spacers/risers or seat mods. .
